The Phoenix Baseball team is the first male sport to compete in the District Championships, Regional Qualifying and State tournaments for Brooks-DeBartolo. Baseball has been one of the most successful team sports since the start of the athletic program, becoming District Runner-ups, Regional Champions and State Semifinalists in their first year of postseason eligibility. Having had 4 players drafted to the MLB within the last 3 years, with many others earning scholarships to play in college, the team looks to continue their success in fostering top talent.
The Phoenix Girls’ Basketball team holds the distinction of being our first team to compete in the District Championships and Regional qualifiers. With volleyball being one of our most successful sports since the start of the program, the team looks to continue their success and dominance in the coming years.
The Phoenix Boys’ Basketball team is the first male sports team to ever compete on behalf of the athletics program. The basketball team began during the initial start of the BDCHS athletics programs, and has been successful in establishing a winning tradition and preparing athletes to play at a higher level, going beyond high school standards. With its influence on skill development and discipline, the team is continuing to work toward achieving further district, regional and state success.
The Phoenix Girls’ Volleyball team holds the distinction of being the first sports team to ever compete on behalf of the Brooks DeBartolo athletics program. The volleyball team has been instrumental in the skill development of many different players. The team is becoming more successful year by year, steadily growing under the leadership of its experienced coaching staff.
The Phoenix Girls’ Softball team is the newest female sport in the athletics program. The softball team was started because of the strong interest shown from students and parents. As the team continues to develop under the guidance of its proficient coaching staff, including a former MLB player, the team is beginning to establish a winning tradition.
The BDCHS Bowling team is the newest of all of Brooks-DeBartolo athletics. With both girls and boys competing together, the bowling team is Brooks DeBartolo’s first co-ed team. Started during the 2010 – 2011 school year, the Bowling team has become very popular considering its status as a first year team. After a very prosperous season of many more victories than losses, a member of the BDCHS bowling team was invited to compete in the FHSAA state tournament, where he placed 13th out of the field of hundreds. Needless to say, the bowling team’s success in its initial year is an indicator of what is to come.
